About the Founder

Hello there,

My name is Carolina. I am originally from Brazil and am the founder of Eira fitness.

I have always loved movement. For as long as I can remember I’ve been practicing a sport, dancing or enjoying frolicking, jumping and leaping around freely! I understand life through movement. Moving and exercise practice is an act of faith and self love. Of confidence. Confidence in oneself.

I was a professional dancer in my twenties when I discovered Pilates. I then also re-discovered strength training (having first done some when I was fifteen). Back when I was dancing I noticed how both disciplines complemented each other— one improving technique (Pilates) and the other making me stronger (strength training).

Once I stopped dancing, Pilates has filled my urge for movement: I explore and test the limits of big, wide range of motions, back bending, twisting, balancing. The joy of moving through a routine of exercises. I love performing Pilates exercises and how intricate, sometimes complex and challenging they are.

However, Pilates did not provide all that was needed for my body. When it comes down to aesthetics and gaining muscle for health and injury prevention, strength training has been my answer. There, with proper programming I am able to shape my body and build incredible strength.

After teaching for over 10 years in New York City, it became clear to me that most people were very confused of what kind of exercise they should be doing and how to build a routine that would be pleasurable and effective. That’s how EiRA fitness was born, the dream of creating a platform to inform and educate clients of what these disciplines (and other forms of exercise) can and cannot offer.
